When I’m Nine
When I’m Nine
The trees sway, in the morning light
It’s such a calming sight, but I am still here
Will you take me, to where the corn rows grow
Midwest winds blow, ‘cuz I can’t stay here
There’s a cargo train, just down the road
Where noone goes, maybe I could catch a ride
I’d jump inside and head up North, sway back and forth
Start a brand new life
I could sneak right out when the sun comes up
The trees will sway to wish me luck
On my ride…
I’ve drawn a map, it’s somewhat crude
I’ve packed my clothes, gonna bring some food
On my ride…
But I’m too young, I can’t set the date
I can’t emancipate, I know it’s not the time
Maybe when I’m nine
The trees sway, in the morning light
It’s such a calming sight, but I am still here
Will you take me, to where the corn rows grow
Midwest winds blow, ‘cuz I can’t stay here
