Distractions
written by Jeremy Haddad
I never needed anything at all
Everything I thought I wanted was just a distraction
And now the time as come for me to jump
But all I was prepared for was the fall
I put away all my fears and all my follies
Left behind the old ragged man I knew
Took my key my curiosity and my six string
There was only one thing left to do
Just one song to set my spirit free
Just one step and I begin my journey
Just one wing to feel like I can fly
Just one life to live before I die
So slow down and take a look around
Just enjoy the simplicity
If the sky were falling, or the angels were calling
It wouldn’t mean a damn thing to me
Sometime life feels better when you’re living for whatever
And you make the paths you take without a map
And sometimes words or louder when you’re singing on a mountain
And not thinking about when you’re going back
The worlds a little lighter when you leave the past behind ya
Moving on means learning how to love
So take my hand come with me, show me what I’m missing
I don’t need to live for who I was
Just one song to set my spirit free
Just one step and I begin my journey
Just one wing to feel like I can fly
Just one life to live before I die
So slow down and take a look around
Just enjoy the simplicity
If the sky were falling, or the angels were calling
It wouldn’t mean a damn thing to me
